Barbara Kolm

Director and Founder

Barbara Kolm is President of the Friedrich A. v. Hayek Institute in Vienna, Austria, Founding Director of the Austrian Economics Center, and Vice President of the Österreichische Nationalbank (Austrian Central Bank). A worldwide networker, Kolm is renowned for promoting free market policies. She is a frequent speaker on public policy related issues, especially on deregulation and competition, the future of Europe and Austrian Economics. Barbara Kolm is an Associate Professor of Austrian Economics at the University of Donja Gorica, Montenegro and serves on several advisory boards. She is a Member of the Mont Pèlerin Society. Martin Gundinger

Senior Research Fellow

Martin Gundinger joined the Austrian Economics Center in 2016 as a Research Fellow. Besides being an economist, he has many areas of interest, ranging from computer science to medicine. He is passionate about cutting-edge technology and a strong believer in the power of human ingenuity and individual freedom. He is also a member of the Research Team at the Hayek Institute.


Britt Schier

Head of Office

Britt Schier is the Head of Office at the Austrian Economics Center. In her position, she is responsible for public relations, event management, administration, Human Resources, and the overall management of the AEC’s day-to-day affairs. She is also the Head of Office at the Hayek Institute.

Victoria Schmid

Assistant and Event Coordinator

Victoria Schmid joined the Austrian Economics Center in February 2017. She assists in organizing events, including the Free Market Road Show and European Resource Bank. Besides supporting marketing, she takes care for editing reports. Victoria takes simular responsibilities at the Hayek Institute.


Kai Weiss

Research and Outreach Coordinator

Kai Weiss is a Research Fellow at the Austrian Economics Center and a board member of the Hayek Institute. He holds a MA in Politics from Hillsdale College, where he focused on the political thought of Augustine of Hippo. His main research interests are the interplay between religion and politics (political theology), the history of Austrian Economics, and environmental policy.
